Audio samples of all 10 songs that will appear on “Dermal Harvest”, the debut album from Swedish death metallers SKINEATER, can be streamed in the YouTube clip below. The CD will be released later this year via Pulverised Records.

SKINEATER last year announced the addition of drummer Matte Modin (DARK FUNERAL, RAISED FIST, DEFLESHED, SPORTLOV) to the group’s ranks.

Formed in late 2008, SKINEATER features scene veterans Håkan Stuvemark (ex-WOMBBATH, ex-IN THY DREAMS), Stefan Westerberg (ex-CARNAL FORGE, ex-IN THY DREAMS) and Jörgen Ström (THE MARY MAJOR).
Regarding the band’s deal with Pulverised, Stuvemark said, “All we’ve heard about [Pulverised] — and through our own experience during negotiating with the label — has been good! We are ready to cause some damage, so keep yer eyes and ears open!”

Added Pulverised Records A&R manager Calvin Chiang: “After we heard about SKINEATER, it was obviously a no-brainer that their brand of crushing death metal fitted the Pulverised roster perfectly. With their downright devastating and ruthless vibe combined with a slight tinge of melodic elements; we knew there was something remarkable about SKINEATER!”

SKINEATER is:

Jörgen Ström – Vocals
Håkan Stuvemark – Guitars
Stefan Westerberg – Bass
Matte Modin – Drums

We are really sorry for this, and we will do all we can to return as soon as we can! We would like to thank Engel and Beyond all recognition for supporting us.
Once again, we truly apologize to all you who bought tickets to the shows. We hope to see you all soon!
Love // Jimmie, Alex, Marcus, Pontus, Zandro”

For all of you who bought tickets for the shows, we’re really sorry and hope that we can make it up to you in the future. We all hope for Dead By April to recover fast and to get back on the road as soon as possible.

Recently ENGEL‘s new album, “Blood Of Saints”, has entered the official chart in Sweden at position No. 60. Released on May 18 via Season Of Mist, the CD was recorded at Antfarm studios in Aabyhøj, Denmark. According to the group, the new album “is going to be a good mixture between both [previous ENGEL efforts] ‘Threnody’ [2010] and ‘Absolute Design’ [2007], but with some new angles as well! If you liked ‘Threnody’, you will LOVE ‘Blood Of Saints’!”

SLIPKNOT Members Visit PAUL GRAY’s Grave On Two-Year Anniversary Of His Death

Vocalist Corey Taylor and other members of SLIPKNOT visited the grave site of the band’s late bassist, Paul Gray, last night on the two-year anniversary of his death.

“We just hung out and told some good stories,” Taylor tells Revolver. “It felt good to do that. It was the first time we’ve been able to hang out and talk about him without crumbling. It was good. We laughed about the old memories. It meant something. It definitely meant something.”

Gray passed away in May 2010 from an accidental overdose of drugs, leaving behind his wife Brenna and daughter October, who was born the following August.

SLIPKNOT played its first headlining show since the death of Paul Gray on June 21, 2011 at Columbiahalle in Berlin, Germany. Gray‘s red jumpsuit, mask and bass guitar stood at the back of the stage while his bandmates performed. The rest of the group’s members donned red jumpsuits and older versions of their trademark masks from SLIPKNOT‘s earlier days, in tribute to their fallen bandmate.

Playing bass for the band is Donnie Steele, who was the guitarist in an early incarnation of the group. Steele, however, is hidden from the audience’s view.

“Even though Paul‘s not with us, everybody’s right, he would not want us to just stop being what we are,” Taylor tells Revolver. “We headlined the first [Rockstar Energy Drink] Mayhem run [in 2008], and now we’re coming back and doing it again [this summer], albeit it under different circumstances. But I think it’s going to be great. Plus, I’ll have my family out with me so it’s going to be like summer vacation, only more masks.” Source: Blabbermouth.net

Check out audio samples of the entire CD at Amazon.com.

THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA started like so many others as an innocent yet serious drunken idea when Strid and David Andersson (MEAN STREAK, session musician for SOILWORK) were on the road together somewhere in North America in 2007. Björn and David were bonding over what they considered “classic” or not, from rock and roll conspiracies to being arrested in a lobby with nothing but leather pants on. All those scenarios, fictional or real, needed a soundtrack. They also came to think that whether you’re on a metal tour or not, a lot of classic rock songs say it all and can really lend you a helping hand and make you forget about everything, especially when in motion or travelling. The classic escape. The never-ending road trip. The transatlantic night flight. It may sound simple and naive, but what it all comes down to is that we all need that soundtrack to feel extra special, whether you have been arrested in a lobby or not.

It didn’t take long before bass player D’ Angelo joined forces as well as keyboard player Richard Larsson (VON BENZO) and drummer Jonas Källsbäck (MEAN STREAK). The goal was to reclaim the ’70s/early ’80s sense for classic melody, the forgotten recipe to a timeless song, preferably a song mentioning a city, street name or an exhilarating alcoholic beverage. Anything that will have you spitting out the word “classic.” From “Tarot Woman” to “Badlands”, from “Rhiannon” to “Running on Empty”, from “Blind Man” to “Night Moves”, from “Deuce” to “Separate Ways”, from “Elected” to “Set me Free”. The list goes on. It’s all about reclaiming the “classic.” Source: Blabbermouth.net

The video for GODSMACK‘s cover of JOE WALSH‘s “Rocky Mountain Way” can be seen at RevolverMag.com. The song comes off GODSMACK‘s first-ever live album, “Live & Inspired”, which sold around 16,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 19 on The Billboard 200 chart.

Released on May 15 via Universal Republic Records, “Live & Inspired” features fierce and furious live renditions of numerous hits from the Massachusetts rockers’ five studio albums. Their incendiary and infectious shows have become legendary in modern rock, and they continue to impress both critics and audiences alike every time they hit the stage. The group sounds unchained on rousing performances of “Awake”, “Keep Away”, “Straight Out of Line”, “Whatever”, “Voodoo”, and “I Stand Alone”.

This is the first time that’s been captured on CD, and bonus tracks of covers that have “inspired” GODSMACK is also going to be included along with it. The four tracks are quite close to the band’s collective heart. The band started ripping through local Massachusetts haunts with their renditions of some of these songs, and these recordings bring everything full circle.

“Live & Inspired” track listing is as follows:

CD 1 (Live):

01. Straight Outta Line
02. Realign
03. Awake
04. Moon Baby
05. Changes
06. The Enemy
07. Keep Away
08. Speak
09. Voodoo
10. Batalla De Los Tambores
11. Whatever
12. Serenity
13. I Stand Alone

CD 2 (Inspired):

01. Rocky Mountain Way (JOE WALSH cover)
02. Come Together (THE BEATLES cover)
03. Time (PINK FLOYD cover)
04. Nothing Else Matters (METALLICA cover)

About the collection, frontman Sully Erna reveals, “‘Live & Inspired’ is our way of saying ‘Thank you’ to all of our fans for believing in us throughout the years, and helping us to become a great live band! Along with this ass-whooping set live from Detroit Rock City, we’ve also included four cover songs of our favorite hits in the past to show you that, we too, are simply just fans that appreciate nothing more than good old fashion ass-kicking rock ‘n’ roll! Enjoy!”

Erna told Loudwire in a recent interview, “We were going to do a compilation with this song from Vegas, this song is from Chicago, this one is from Dallas, but I don’t know, the more we listened to the Detroit show, the more we kind of figured out that it was a really good show for us.”

Erna also said that GODSMACK has nothing but love for the Motor City, explaining, “It’s always a great audience, as any rock band will tell you. Playing there is a special kind of fanbase that they have there, they live up to their reputation. They’re a great rock audience.”

In addition, the quartet encouraged its legion of supporters to be a part of the release. The collection’s packaging actually showcases a variety of fan photos. Fans may submit live snapshots of the group on stage, pictures of themselves rocking out at GODSMACK concerts, or photos of their tattoos of the group’s iconic logo on the band’s official Facebook. Now, the winning photos adorn the album’s booklet and packaging.

The first single from “Live & Inspired”, GODSMACK‘s cover of JOE WALSH‘s “Rocky Mountain Way”, can be streamed using the audio player below.

GODSMACK‘s fifth studio album, “The Oracle”, opened with 117,000 copies back in May 2010 to land at No. 1.

LAMB OF GOD Interviewed In Bangalore

Earlier today (Friday, May 25), Aniruddh “Andrew” Bansal of Metal Assault conducted an interview with Richmond, Virginia metallers LAMB OF GOD after their press conference in Bangalore, India ahead of the band’s concert at the city’s Clarks Exotica tomorrow. A couple of excerpts from the question-and-answer session follow below.

Metal Assault: LAMB OF GOD is such a popular band these days that you play big shows everywhere. Do you guys sometimes miss the smaller shows that you used to do back in the day?

Chris Adler (drums): We started the “Resolution” touring cycle in January. We did a week-long run of the U.S. East Coast doing smaller shows, and it was a lot of fun to get back to that. It was good for us to get warmed up again because we had taken time off to write the record and we needed a bit of practice live. But yeah, for me personally, those shows are great, and even the small theaters are great. When we get into the festivals, those are great picture opportunities and great to tell your mom about [laughs], but it’s not very exciting for the metal fan. The energy in the smaller places and theaters is really tangible. It’s a special event for the band and for the fans, because the energy is trapped in such a small place. So for me that’s a lot more fun. Of course, I’m not going to say no to a METALLICA arena tour, but the stuff that we choose to do in the U.S. normally stays in those smaller-sized venues.

Metal Assault: You guys mentioned in the press conference that you’re shooting a documentary on this tour. But, of course, I’ve seen your old documentaries like “Killadelphia”. So I was curious to know, when the crew is shooting you guys, does that affect you? Does it change your way of going about things while touring?

Willie Adler (guitar): I think we’ve come to a point that the camera and the cameraman are almost invisible. They’re basically one of the five of us. This is me personally, but when we were shooting “Killadephia”, not that we’ve been shooting that long on this current one, but when we did all the work with Doug Spangenberg, he was basically part of the family and part of the crew, where the camera became invisible. It didn’t even feel like there was actual filming going on.

Metal Assault: That’s cool. But is it important for you guys to keep it real? Sometimes band documentaries are glorified, and it doesn’t give you the real picture of what it’s like.

Chris Adler: Yes, it is very important. We were talking about the “Killadelphia” DVD earlier, and I think some of the stuff that we decided to keep in the DVD did more for our music career than any album did. And that was by keeping it real and not just showing the limos, girls and stuff like that. There’s fist fights and band drama all the time. That’s what real life is about, no matter what you do. But this new documentary is a little different than that one. We’re not really focusing on the band. We’re focusing on the fans a little bit more. Of course it will show the band, but not in a glamorous way. Most of the places that we’re going to with the film crew are places like here, Israel, and we just did South America. So it’s not the big Los Angeles “rich-people” kind of scene. So it will show a different side of the world, and hopefully it will also show a different side of the band as well, as we interact and learn more about ourselves and the people we’re playing to.

Danish Power Metaller SEVEN THORNS to record new album & new vocalist

ROCK ‘N GROWL has issued the following:

Danish power metal band Seven Thorns records the sequel to their highly accalaimed debut album. The 6 Danes of SEVEN THORNS has entered Media Sound Studios, Peter Brander (Royal Hunt, Cornerstone, Big Fat Snake) in Copenhagen once again to create their long awaited 2nd studio album. ”The new album will be a continuance of the first one – with a little more variation” says guitarist Gabriel Tuxen. ”We have put a little more tempo and technicalities into the songs” he adds.

”For the first album (Return To The Past) we hired the fantastic Swedish singer Erik ”EZ” Blomkvist (former Platitude). His voice was not as high pitched as the ”common” power metal vocalists but it really fitted our music fantasticly. Erik was never a full member of Seven Thorns – by own choice, and it has been a wish in the band for some time to get a singer to work with full-time – and we have found that now in another young Swede named Gustav Blide. Erik has been a one of the main reasons for the success we’ve had for the first album and without him we wouldn’t have been where we are today. Gustav is a different kind of singer – more classic power metal vocalist – only 19 years old, but with a huge potential”, says drummer and founder Lars Borup.

For the new album, however, Gustav will ”only” be doing backing vocals and chorus. To sing on the new album Seven Thorns has been fortunate to get an icon ”from the past” – David Henriksson (in the pic) from the Swedish power metal band Insania and Heel. He was the voice on the fantastic album ”Sunrise in Riverland” from 2001 and their debut ”World of Ice” 1999.

”Getting David to do the vocals on the new album is simply amazing. His voice is so fantastic. It will be a change in the vocal style, but for the songs on the new album David’s voice will be perfect” says Mik Holm.

The album is expected to be finished in July and at the moment it hasn’t got title…
